Frequently Asked Questions
Sample Gown Condition
What condition are the sample gowns in?
All of the gowns listed on the website have either been worn for photoshoots, tried on during in-studio appointments, or used for other similar purposes. These gowns were not worn for weddings or events, and have not been altered.
Therefore, all dresses have flaws that disqualify them from passing our Quality Control standards that all brand-new dress orders must pass. Each dress has been reviewed by our in-house team in Auckland, New Zealand and have been discounted accordingly.
Some flaws that you may find on your dress are (but not limited to):
- Dirt & dust around the hemline (which can be hemmed off in alterations)
- Small pulls or snags in the fabric
- Faint marks or light bruises in the fabrics
Some gowns may have more noticeable flaws, which are outlined in the product description and with photos on the listing.
We believe that these gowns are perfect for brides who are okay with minor imperfections (that most guests would never notice!), who love a great deal, or who want to make a more sustainable fashion choice on their big day - or all three!
Can I see the exact flaws of the dress I am interested in?
Due to the large quantity of sample gown stock, we cannot provide photos of every single gown. However, specific samples with more noticeable flaws have been photographed with flaws noted on the listing. If there are no photos of flaws on the gown shown or no photos of the exact gown, please know that the sample in the listing meets our standard sample gown qualifications of minor flaws (as listed above).
Sizing, Alterations and Customizations
What size are the dresses available in the Sample Sale?
Most of the gowns listed on the site are a UK8 or UK10, and a selection of gowns in sizes UK 12 - UK20. All gowns and available sizes are listed on the site, so we do not have alternate sizes for the gowns shown in the listings.
All dresses have not been altered, so please refer to our size chart to determine your closest standard gown size.
Can you alter the gown for me if it is the wrong size? Or do you offer customizations?
Please know that Rue de Seine does not offer an alterations or customizations service. We advise taking your gown to an experienced bridal seamstress for any alterations or customizations. We are happy to give advice if your tailor is needing it.
How do I have the gown fixed if there are small holes or damage?
We advise you take your gown to an experienced bridal tailor/seamstress who is versed in working with delicate laces and lining fabrics.
Order Process and Timing
Can I try on these gowns at my nearest Rue de Seine retailer before making a decision?
No, all of the gowns listed in the sale are discontinued styles, and are no longer at Rue de Seine retailers.
This sale is offered directly from Rue de Seine, and authorized Rue de Seine retailers cannot offer these styles or price match for any current styles in their studio.
The sale is only valid for the inventory listed on the website while supplies last and is not eligible for any of our current collection found in stores or on ruedeseine.com.
How long will it take for me to receive my gown?
All orders will be processed and shipped within 2 - 3 weeks of the order date. Delivery timing is dependant on your location and depending upon customs entry into your country. Transit time from New Zealand averages 7 - 10 business days, however can be impacted by unforeseen delays (ie. weather events, etc).
Your dress will be shipped insured and you will receive online tracking information from the Rue de Seine logistics team to the email provided once it is in route.
All shipments will require signature upon delivery to ensure their security, so may be best to use a work (business) address or home address if someone can be available to sign on delivery.
Please note we cannot ship direct to PO boxes or rural addresses.
How far before my wedding should I order my gown?
The more time, the better! Receiving your gown at least 4 months before the wedding date will ensure ample time for your gown to arrive and for alterations to be carried out to achieve the perfect bridal fit. We advise ordering your gown no later than 4 weeks before your wedding date in case of any unforeseen transit delays (ie. weather events/shipping delays). Rue de Seine do not recommended ordering a gown if you have less than 4 weeks before your wedding date, and cannot be held responsible for any transit delays.
